How we earn money
SecurityCamera.deals is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
When you follow a Buy on Amazon link from this site and then buy something, Amazon may pay us a small commission. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid by going to Amazon directly. The commission is what pays for the research, the data and the tools on this site, which are free to use.
What commission never changes
Commission rates differ between product categories and change over time. None of that affects what we recommend. The code that calculates Security Fit and Deal Score and the code that builds affiliate links are kept in separate parts of the site, and the recommendation engine has no access to commission rates at all.
Lists are ordered by how well a product suits the property and needs you describe, then by value. A camera that suits you better is always placed above one that would earn us more. We also never inflate the number of cameras in a recommendation: if one camera can cover both your driveway and your front yard, we recommend one camera.
Prices and discounts
We show a discount only when it is genuine: a saving measured against a reference price that Amazon itself reports, or against the price history we have recorded. We do not invent list prices or show crossed-out prices that were never charged. Every price carries the time it was checked, and prices older than 24 hours are withdrawn.
Why we show monthly costs
Many camera brands make more money from subscriptions than from hardware, and the cheapest camera is often the most expensive to own. We show the monthly cost of every product next to its price, and we calculate three-year and five-year totals for complete systems, because a fair comparison has to include what you keep paying after the purchase. That information sometimes points you to a product that earns us less, and that is the point.
Advertising
Some pages may carry clearly separated advertising below the product listings. Advertisers have no say over our recommendations, scores or editorial content, and an advertisement is never placed between the finder and the product list.
Free products and sponsorship
We do not accept payment for placement in lists or for higher scores. If a manufacturer ever lends or gives us a product for testing, we will say so on that product's page.
