Who we are

SecurityCamera.deals is published by Blackcedar Media Limited, Weidenweg 12, 74321 Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany. Blackcedar Media Limited is the controller responsible for the personal data described on this page. You can reach us about anything in this policy at Info@blackcedarmedia.com.

We built this site to help people choose security cameras and complete camera systems. Doing that well does not require us to know who you are, so we collect as little as possible and we never sell personal data.

What the finder remembers

When you answer the finder questions (property type, number of cameras, connection, storage, budget and optional features), your answers are placed in the page address so you can share or bookmark a recommendation. From the recommendation step onwards we also keep those answers in a first-party cookie on your device, so that product lists can show a Security Fit rating for your property when you come back. The cookie contains only your finder answers, never your name or contact details, and it expires after 180 days. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

Analytics

We run our own privacy-friendly analytics on our own infrastructure. When a page loads or you use the finder, your browser sends a small event to our server: the page address, the referring site, the event name (for example a page view, a finder answer or a click through to Amazon) and the finder answers involved. Our server adds the country derived from your connection and a short hash built from your network address, a random session value and the current date. The raw network address is never stored, and because the date is part of the hash, it cannot be used to follow you from one day to the next.

We use these counts to understand which questions people ask, which recommendations help and which pages need improving. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers or session recording, and we do not build profiles of individual visitors.

Amazon and other sites

Buttons labelled Buy on Amazon take you to Amazon.com. Once you are there, Amazon's own privacy notice applies, and Amazon may set cookies to attribute your purchase to our associate account. We receive aggregated reports of qualifying purchases, never your name, address or what else you bought.

Advertising

Some pages may later show advertising served by Google AdSense below the product listings. If that happens, Google may use cookies to show and measure ads, and in regions where the law requires it we will ask for your consent first. Until then no advertising cookies are set.

Legal basis, retention and your rights

We process analytics data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and improving the site. Analytics events are kept for no longer than 25 months and are then deleted. Server logs kept by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, are retained according to Cloudflare's own policy and are used only for security and reliability.

Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to processing and to complain to a supervisory authority. In Germany the competent authority for us is the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg. Because we do not store names or addresses, we usually cannot link analytics records to a person, but we will always help if you contact us.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date shown on it. Material changes, such as adding a new type of cookie, will be described here before they take effect.
